About ASFS
History
The Atlanta Science Fiction Society - ASFS - was formed in 1998. We currently have about 60 active members.
We like to think of ourselves as friends and fans of Sci-Fi and Fantasy in all its many forms.

Meetings
ASFS meets on the first or second Saturday of every month (call for exact day) at 2pm at the meeting room of the Sandy Springs Library, 395 Mt Vernon Hwy (404-303-6130) - directions: take your best route to Roswell Road, go North above the perimeter (I-285) about 1 mile and turn right at Mt Vernon Hwy (poorly marked; look for Enterprise Car Rental and Library sign), Library is in the next block. If these directions are not clear enough, please call 404-915-5296 or e-mail any one of our officers (see Contact Us). Meetings are FREE and open to the public.

At our meetings, we have a short 'business' meeting where we catch up on what's been going on the past month. Following that, we generally have a guest speaker, hold round table discussions on topics of interest, sc-fi related games, or go to movie premieres.

ASFS produces a club newsletter containing local items of interest, reviews, artwork, short fiction, and news of upcoming events. Other club activities include going to conventions together and gathering at various members homes for cookouts, parties and the like. We also do things with other Sci-Fi specific groups in the area, Star Wars, Star Trek, Roswell, Dark Shadows, for instance.

Some of our past guest speakers: John Ringo, author of military Sci-Fi; Andy Duncan, Nebula and Hugo Award nominee for short fiction; Stephen Pagel, publisher from Meisha Merlin Press; Jerry Samples from the National Space Society; Anne Brunsgaard, local costumer, to name a few.  We try to get four to six speakers per year.
